If you don’t know that a certain store caters for the shorter woman, finding that petite section in a store always feels like finding a tenner in a coat you haven’t worn in a year.
It’s a pity though when the treasure you’ve found turns out to be useless to you. If you’re a slightly wider petite woman, you might find that sizes tend to stop at around 12. 14 if you’re very lucky. So really, to retailers you’re either short and skinny-slim or not worth their effort.
Living in London and looking at the women around me on the underground and in stores, I find it very difficult to believe that there is no demand for petite clothing at sizes 12 to 20. Higher even. The question is why retailers do not recognize this need.
